FIND A PLATFORM FROM AN ENTRANCE |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
There are two island platforms which can be reached via the upper concourse from the main entrance and by a subway from the tower entrance. Platforms 1 - 2 lie to your rightt of platforms 3 - 4, as you face the rear of the departing train.
There is no tactile paving along the edge of these platforms.
From the Main Entrance From the Tower Entrance |
You can reach the upper concourse via escalator, stairs or lift. All these bring you near the near end of the concourse. The gate line is across the far end, with the manual gate at the right-hand end of the gate line as you face the platforms. Of the 16 automatic gates, we found no clear pattern of entrances or exits at the time of our survey.
As you go through the gates, platforms are numbered 1 - 4 from the right, platforms 1 - 2 and 3 - 4 are island platforms.
As you come in through the main entrance, the stairs and escalators are in front of you and the lift is to your left.
The escalators are to your right of the stairs and the left-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go up to the upper concourse and continue to the gate line.
It's probably easier to go straight up the stairs to your left of the escalators. Go up three flights of steps into the upper concourse and continue to the gate line.
Go forward a few metres then turn left towards the lift. Note that there's a set of stairs to your right of the lift and that the button to your right of the door is for assistance. The call button for the lift is to your left of the door.
Go up to the upper concourse, leave via the same doors then turn left and continue to the gate line.
You can follow our route from Tower Hill Station.
From Coopers Row, go up three steps into the concourse. The gate line is in front of you with the manual gate at the left-hand end and the automatic entrances to your right of this. Go through the gates then continue up a flight of steps. Turn right (180 degrees) then go up a flight of steps, into the subway. We suggest you follow the right-hand side as the subway may put you behind the train. The right-hand steps will take you towards the front of the train.
Take the first turning right for platforms 3 - 4, or the second (last) for platforms 1 - 2 and go up two flights of steps onto the platform. In either case, the lower number platform will be to your left.
