There are direct services from Manchester Piccadilly to:

• London Euston via the West Coast Mainline
• Birmingham and the south coast
• North-west England and Scotland
• Leeds, Humberside and North-east England
• Chester and North Wales
• Shrewsbury and South Wales
• The East Midlands and East Anglia
• as well as a wide range of local services

Layout

The station is established on four levels:

>The platform level, (level 2)

This consists of the main concourse and platforms. The concourse is considered as triangular in shape, with the gates to the platforms along the east side. The west and north sides are occupied by shops and other facilities. A boat-shaped island, containing the booking office and other shops, is located towards the west side of the concourse, leaving a corridor between the island and the outer wall of this space. There are 14 platforms, numbered 1 to 14 from the north:

• Platforms 1 to 12 run east from the concourse;
• Platforms 13 and 14 are separate from the main body of the station and are reached by a moving walkway or lift from platforms 10 - 11,.

A bridge, towards the east end of the platforms, connects platforms 1 to 11 and, via a waiting area, (known as the Link Bridge Lounge) platforms 12, 13 and 14.

Platform 12 can be reached from the concourse, or via a lift from the Link Bridge Lounge.

The Upper Level (level 3)

This occupies the island, together with a balcony running along the west and north sides of the concourse. Three bridges join the island to the balcony.

The Metro Link Level (level 1)

This consists of a bridge over the Metro Link tracks plus a small concourse offering access to the Fairfield Street level (level 0). The bridge provides access to the arrivals and departures platforms of the Metro Link service, via steps, escalators and lifts.

The Fairfield Street Level (level 0)

This contains the Metro Link platforms which run east/west, with the departures platform lying south of the arrivals. West of these is the small concourse offering two exits into the forecourt, the London Road exit, plus steps and escalators from Level 1 and the lifts from the upper and platform levels.

Accessibility

As there is extensive step and lift access throughout this station, we believe it is accessible to wheelchair and guide dog users.
