Overview

This route provides an emergency exit and an alternative to the escalators should these be unavailable.

The spiral staircase leads onto a bridge above tracks 4 and 5, the Victoria Line, from which further stairs lead to each island platform.

The Spiral Staircase

Leave the intermediate level, opposite the escalators to the concourse and go down one flight of steps. Follow the passage round to your right to locate the top of the spiral staircase. Go down three flights of 17 steps, spiralling clockwise. At the foot of the spiral, follow the passage and go down another flight of steps onto the bridge between the two island platforms.

To Which Platforms?

To the Southbound, Platforms 5 - 6

Turn left, go down one flight of steps then turn right, then go down another flight to reach the island platform.

Turn left for the Northern Line, platform 6. Trains travel eastwards through the station towards Kings Cross, you are at the rear of the train.

Turn right for the Victoria Line, platform 5. The trains travel westwards through the station towards Warren Street, you are at the front of the train.

To the Northbound, Platforms 3 - 4

Turn right, go down one flight of steps, turn left and go down another flight to reach the island platform.

Turn left for the Victoria Line, platform 4. The trains travel Eastwards through the station towards Kings Cross, you're at the rear of the train.

Turn right for the Northern Line, platform 3. The trains travel westwards through the station before turning north towards Camden. You're at the front of the train.
