From the North Entrance From the South Entrance |
Go down a flight of stairs, turn left, go down another flight of stairs and continue into the concourse. There are ticket machines on your left. Take the turning left and continue, past the ticket sales windows on your left, with the manual gate just beyond these, followed by the automatic entrance gates. A rail runs along the centre of this passage to separate the ticket queue from the through traffic. Keep left of the rail for the ticket sales windows and manual gate, otherwise keep right then turn left beyond the rail for the automatic entrances, beyond the top of the slope. Go through the gates.
Enter the station, move slightly left then continue forwards, down a flight of steps. Turn right, go down a flight of steps then right again and down another, then bear right into the passage.
Follow the passage, which veers right before you reach the gate line in front of you. The right-hand gate is normally the one you need.
Go through the gates, up four steps and locate the passage to trains on your right. Continue to the platforms.
If you need to buy a ticket from the sales windows or use the manual gate, keep left from the foot of the stairs and follow the wall round and go up the four steps in the concourse. Follow the rail on your right to the end and then come back past the ticket sales windows which will now be on your left. The manual gate is just beyond these and the automatic entrances will be on your left, beyond the top of a slight slope. Go through the gates.
The passage to trains leads away from the gate line between the top of the slope and the four steps. If you used the manual gate, you will have to move to your right to locate this.
Go through the passage and turn right for platform 1, westbound; left for platform 2, eastbound.
For the westbound, go down 4 steps and continue, down another flight of stairs and turn right (180 degrees in all) and continue forward onto the platform. You're at the front of the train.
For the eastbound, continue, down a flight of stairs then turn left, down another flight, which curves left, before turning left again and continue onto the platform. You're at the rear of the train.
Note that the rear door of the rear carriage of Metropolitan Line trains doesn't open at this station.
