The station is located beneath the junction of Old Street (east/west) and city Road (north/south).
The entrances/exits to this station lead to an upper level concourse which is separated from the lower concourse by a flight of stairs. The upper concourse, which contains a number of shops and trade stalls, gives access to the street level exits. This area is managed by Islington Borough Council. The lower level concourse which contains the ticket sales windows, is part of the station.
There are eight exits/entrances:
There are four passages from the upper concourse, each leading to a pair of exits.
This runs northeast from the northern end of the upper concourse.
Exit 1, leads up 13 then 13 steps going northwest, onto the east side of City Road North.
Exit 2, leads up a slope southeast onto the north side of Old Street East.
This leaves southeast from the south end of the upper concourse.
Exit 3, leads up a slope northeast to the south side of Old Street East.
Exit 4, leads up 13 then 13 steps, going southwest, to the east side of City Road South.
This leaves southwest from the south end of the upper concourse.
Exit 5, leads up 11 then 11 steps bearing right, generally southeast, to the west side of City Road South.
Exit 6, leads up a slope northwest onto the south side of Old Street West.
This leaves northwest from the north end of the upper concourse.
Exit 7, leads up a slope which curves to the right, generally southwest, onto the north side of Old Street West.
Exit 8, leads up 13 then 12 steps, going northeast onto the west side of City Road North.
There are no bus stops within the scope of this survey.
