INTERCONNECTING PASSAGES |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
The Central Line runs underneath the Bakerloo and Victoria lines, some distance south of the platforms, whereas the Victoria and Bakerloo lines cross the Central Line west of the platforms. We believe that the exit section of the intermediate level lies above this crossing.
We've identified five passages linking the Central Line platforms to the exit section, the northbound and southbound Bakerloo and Victoria Line platforms.
This passage leads west from the end of platform 1, up a flight of steps before turning north to a T-junction with the passage across the south end of the northbound platforms. Note, you can cross to passage 2 just beyond the end of the Central Line platforms
As you leave platform 1, there's a help point on your left before a slope up to the foot of the stairs. Go up 20 steps, going west. The slope continues, the passage turns right north, slope continues for a few metres and flattens out as you reach a T-junction with a help point to your right of a notice board on the far wall. Turn left for platform 6, Victoria Line, right for platform 4 Bakerloo.
The passage brings you onto the platform at the rear of the train. Note that, unlike similar passages to other platforms, this one does not bring you into the end of the platform itself.
The passage turns left to bring you to the south end of the platform at the rear of the train.
The passage leads west, up stairs, then turns right for the final flight of steps into the exit section. Note that you can cross to passage 1 just beyond the end of the Central Line platforms.
The passage leads west, go up 13 steps, passage 3 leads right from the top of these steps.
Continue west, go up 18 steps, follow the passage right (north) and go up 11 steps to the intersection. The single escalator to the exit concourse is on your right.
Go up 14 steps, Going north, the passage slopes down, there's a help point on your right. The slope flattens before a T-junction with a blank door in the wall facing you. Turn right for the Victoria Line, platform 5; left for the Bakerloo, platform 3.
Go up the slope, passing blank doors on your right. Turn left onto the south end of platform 5, at the front of the train.
Go down a slight slope, turn right onto platform 3 at the front of the train.
There are three exits from the south end of the central reservation. The outer two lead to the exit section of the intermediate level, whilst the middle one is the beginning of passage 4.
Go down 20 steps, going south, there's tactile flooring at the top and bottom of these steps. Continue down the slope, there is a help point on your right. The passage swings left, slopes upwards then swings right again, past a help point and defibrillator on your left. the passage from the northbound (passage 5) joins from the right.
The passage swings right, flattens out briefly then slopes up again for a few metres before flattening out where the passage from the entrance to the Central Line joins from the right. The passage slopes up again onto the bridge over the eastbound Central Line, then flattens out till you reach the end wall. Turn left and go down 20 steps, going east. The westbound, platform 1 is on your right, you're near the second carriage from the front of the train. The eastbound, platform 2 is on your left, you're near the second carriage from the rear of the train.
There are three passages leaving the central reservation at the south end of the platforms. The outer two lead to the exit section of the intermediate level, whilst the middle one is the beginning of passage 5.
Go down 20 steps, going south. Follow the passage to the T-junction with passage 4, there's a help point in front of you. Turn right.
