Note that, from 13 December 2009, you're advised to use platform 16 of the Mainline Station for eastbound journeys on the Circle Line. Trains serving platform 2 of the Underground Station will terminate at Edgware Road and return via platform 1, so you'd need to change trains at Edgware Road to continue your journey. Note that the change at Edgware Road is much easier than the change between the Underground Station and platform 16 at Paddington so, unless you're already in the Mainline Station, we suggest you change at Edgware Road. Go down two flights of steps (or the left-hand escalator) into the Underground concourse and continue towards the gate line. There's a row of ticket machines, followed by two sales windows to your left, before you reach the gates.

Go through the gates, the entrances are towards the left-hand side, whilst the manual gate is to your right of the assistance booth in the middle.
When through the gates, take the turning left and follow the passage into the London Street concourse, in front of you. Turn left here towards the escalators. The downward escalator should be the right-hand one and there are central steps (4 flights). At the foot of the escalator, take the first turning left for the northbound, platform 3; right for the southbound, platform 4. You're about in the middle of the train.
Go through the middle way in the concourse and through the gates in front of you. These are set back a little from the ones to the left of the gate line. The manual gate is to your right, beyond the assistance booth.
When through the gates, continue forward into the passage in front of you. You go down a steep slope then up a slight slope onto the platform, there's a railing in front of you. You're near the rear of the second carriage from the front of the train.
Go through the middle way in the concourse and through the gates in front of you. These are set back a little from the ones to the left of the gate line. The manual gate is to your right, beyond the assistance booth.
When through the gates, continue forward into the passage in front of you which slopes steeply down. Take the turning to your left and follow this to the right. You go up three flights of steps into the Praed Street concourse. Move forward two or three metres then turn left and continue to the wall in front of you, you're on the bridge. Turn right, go down a flight of steps, turn left, down two flights of steps, before turning left again onto the platform. You're near the rear of the train.
Go down a flight of steps and follow the passage, which veers right, into the London Street concourse. Turn right at the end towards the gate line.
Go down three flights of steps into the London Street concourse and turn left towards the gate line.
The ticket sales machines and windows are to your left, whilst the entrances and manual gate are towards the left-hand end of the gate line. Go through the gates.

Bear left and follow the passage, down the slope then take the turning left and follow the passage down a steeper slope.
For the eastbound, continue, up the slight slope, onto the platform. There's a railing in front of you, you're near the rear of the second carriage from the front of the train.
For the westbound Circle and District Lines, take the turning to your left, before you reach the platform and follow this to the right. Go up three flights of steps into the Praed Street concourse. Move forward two or three metres then turn left and continue to the wall in front of you, you're on the bridge. Turn right, go down a flight of steps, turn left, down two flights of steps, before turning left again onto the platform. You're near the rear of the train.
Go down a flight of steps into the concourse. The ticket sales windows are in front of you, the ticket machines are on the wall to your right, whilst the gate line is to your left. The manual and automatic entrances are toward the far end of the gate line. Go through the gates.
