Descend 11 then 11 steps, going east onto the platform. You're by the front door of the rear carriage of the departing train on platform 8. Platform 7 starts some distance east of here, see below. The steps are divided into two sets by a central rail, though we found no indication of which is the preferred side.
Taking the left-hand of the four sets of steps from the main bridge, go down 11 then 12 steps to platform level and turn left into the Passage to platforms 7 and 8.
The foot of the steps from the bridge is to the north side of the island, i.e. on platform 8, a few metres east of the London Underground assistance office.
There's a wall on the south side, with a passage to platforms 5 and 6. This wall continues (east) with:

There's a blank door in the east end of the wall. The island platform 7 and 8 starts here. A metal rail runs along the edge of platform 7 for about 10 metres, to the rear of the departing train.
All features are in the middle of the island, unless stated otherwise.

There's a metal obstacle across the platform at the front of the train on platform 8.

There's a rail across the platform with monitors for the driver to view the platform, do not go beyond here. The rail stops about a metre short of the edge of the platform.
