NATIONAL RAIL MAP |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
We're pleased to report that we've enlisted the services of Chris Cook, who has offered to help us resolve errors and ambiguities in our National Rail map and station finder.
As a result, the information in our National Rail pages will be subject to change over the coming months, in that some stations will appear on different lines. This will also cause changes within the station finder. Please bear with us.
This page contains links to major cities and intersections from which you can explore the network.
Each line is depicted by a table of which the left column lists the stations in order and the right links to other line(s) served by that station. A link on a station name will point to a page which is either the text guide or a description of the intersection at that station. This latter will, of course, be incorporated into the text guide when it is produced.
The links in the second column normally take the form, "Station A - Station B", where Station A and Station B are the identified ends of the line . Sometimes, a single station is identified or, where there are only two or three stations on a branch, the list may be given with stations separated by commas. If these stations are on identified lines they will be linked accordingly.
This map is not a journey planner nor is any attempt made to show the route taken by any trains. It merely reflects the geography of the network and, in so doing provides a framework from which the text guides to mainline stations can be accessed.
