FIND AN EXIT FROM A PLATFORM |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
The platforms in this station are divided into four groups: The Eurostar, First Capital Connect, High Speed 1 and Midland Mainline.
The Eurostar platforms are in a restricted area. To leave this you go through Security and Customs. Although we'll include basic instructions/directions in this guide, all customers with special needs are provided with assistance and there should be no need for you to negotiate this area independently.
The First Capital Connect platforms are at Level -2. To leave these, you must go to Level 0 via escalator, lift or stairs then through the gates in the northwest corner of the Level 0 concourse.
The High Speed 1 platforms extend north from the northeast corner at Level 1. This is a separate area bounded by the Eurostar section. We believe the left-hand gates are generally the ones you need. You can leave this area via stairs, escalator or lift to the Level 0 Concourse.
The Midland Mainline platforms extend north from the northwest corner of the Level 1 concourse. These platforms are now gated, we believe the left-hand gates are generally the ones you need. We suggest that the easiest way to reach the Level 0 concourse is via the escalator just beyond (south of) the beginning of the platforms, or via the north lift, which is just beyond this escalator.
We assume that you won't want to leave the station from either the Eurostar or First Capital Connect platforms via the Level 1 concourse, though we give directions from the Midland Mainline to Pancras Road or the Underground station via steps from Level 1.
Suffice to say that, from the Level 1 concourse:

Go beyond the front of the train, the gate line is in front of you with a staffed Wide Aisle Gate at the right-hand end. We believe, in general, that the left-hand gates are the ones you need.
Beyond the gates, the lift to Levels 0 and -1 is in the middle of the far side, whilst there's an escalator well to each side of this. We suggest you move to the middle of this area, go towards the lift then turn either left or right to the escalators, to which you'll need to turn 180 degrees. The steps are before the right-hand escalators.
Via Which Route?
Via the Lift Via the Escalator Via the Stairs |
Go through the gates, move into the middle of this space (left/right) then go forward to the lift to Levels 0 and -1, in front of you. At Level -1, you're in the passage leading to the Northern Concourse of the Underground Station.
At Level 0, you're inside the northeast entrance of the Level 0 Concourse.
Turn right, continue along the north passage then take the turning left into the main passage. Continue to the far end, through two sets of arches into the Western Concourse of the Underground Station.
Turn right, take the turning left into the main passage then take the turning left into the central passage and continue, through the doors into Pancras Road.

Turn left from here to RNIB Judd Street, or turn right to join the taxi queue.
There are two sets of doors. The doors to your left lead onto a curved ramp, whilst the doors in front of you lead down three steps onto Pancras Road.
Turn right, continue through the doors at the end of this passage onto Midland Road. Turn left from here to RNIB Judd Street.
Go through the gates, move into the middle (left/right) of this space, go forward towards the lift then turn right, you reach the top of the stairs, before the upward escalator. Turn right and go down four flights of steps into the Level 0 Concourse.
Move into the middle (left/right) of this space and move forward towards the lift. From here you can turn either left or right towards the top of the escalators. For the sake of simplicity, we'll assume you turn right, continue past the top of the stairs and upward escalator then turn right towards the downward escalator. The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need, go down to Level 0.
If you arrived via the escalator, turn right and take the downward escalator to Level -1 and continue forward into the Northern Concourse, the left-hand escalator is normally the one you need..
If you arrived via the stairs, turn left, continue past the foot of the escalators then turn left again and continue to the other escalators to Level -1. There's a set of stairs to each side of these escalators, the left-hand stairs and escalator are normally the ones you need. You go down three flights of steps then continue forward into the Northern Concourse.
Turn left, continue beyond the foot of the escalators then turn left again and continue into the north passage. Turn right then take the turning left into the main passage and continue to the far end, through two sets of arches, into the Western Concourse at Level 0.
Turn left across the foot of the escalators, turn left again and continue into the north passage and turn right. Take the turning left into the main passage then take the turning left into the central passage and continue through the doors onto Pancras Road.

Turn right opposite the central passage go through the doors, continue to the wall in front of you then turn right. Continue to the end then turn left, through the doorway, onto Midland Road.
Turn left from here to RNIB Judd Street, or turn right to join the taxi queue.
Turn left, across the foot of the escalators then turn left again and continue into the north passage and turn left. There are two sets of doors. The doors in front of you lead onto a curved ramp, whilst the doors to your right lead down three steps onto Pancras Road.
Turn left across the foot of the escalators then turn left again and continue into the north passage. Turn right, continue to the end of this passage and go through the doors via a level exit onto Midland Road. Turn left from here to RNIB Judd Street.
As you're arriving onto terminus island platforms, the doors could open on either side. Go beyond the front of the train. The gate line, which is divided into two sections, is in front of you, we believe the left-hand automatic gates are normally the ones you need, though the Wide Aisle exit is was at the left-hand end of the right-hand set of gates at the time of our survey.
Go through the gates then continue down a slight slope into the Level 1 concourse, the escalators to Level 0 are in front of you, beyond which is the north lift. The stairs to the Level 0 concourse are towards the far end of this concourse, beyond the south escalator.
In this section, we describe the stairs route to the Underground station first, together with the stairs exit to Pancras Road. These are currently the only direct exits from this station at Level 1.
For other exits, therefore, you must go down to Level 0, via the escalator in front of you as you leave the platforms, the lift, just beyond this escalator, or the stairs, towards the far end of the concourse, beyond the second set of escalators.
See the Lifts page for details of the lifts in this section of the station. If using the escalator, you'll normally use the left-hand one, or you go down four flights of steps, going north into the main passage at Level 0.
The directions to the four Level 0 exits, other than the Underground, assume that you've reached the foot of the north escalator, stairs or are leaving the north lift at Level 0.
Although you could go down the stairs into the main passage, turn round and go towards the Underground station, you may as well go to the far end of the Level 1 concourse and take the stairs directly into this station.
Continue to the far end of the concourse, turn left and locate the right-hand of the two exits towards the left-hand (southeast) corner. The left-hand one would take you outside, you'd eventually turn left and go down three flights of steps to Pancras Road. If you did this, you could turn left and left again into the Level 0 concourse, of the Underground station.
The right-hand of these two exits, however, takes you down three flights of steps, through a door, into the Level 0 concourse.
The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go down to Level 0, move to either side to avoid the central features (and the pillars) and continue (south) along the main passage. Continue, through two sets of arches, into the Level 0 concourse.
See the Lifts page for more details.
We suggest you go beyond the first (north) escalators and locate the lift nearer to you. You enter facing north. Go down to Level 0, we believe you can leave via the same door, facing south. Move to either side to avoid the central features (and pillars) and continue along the main passage. Continue, through two sets of arches, into the Level 0 concourse.
Continue to the end, the lift is to your left, whilst the stairs and escalators are to your right of this, the left-hand stairs and escalator are normally the ones you need.
Continue through the automatic doors, via a level exit, onto Pancras Road.
Go through the doors, continue to the wall in front of you then turn right. Continue to the end then turn left, through the doorway, onto Midland Road.
Turn left from here to RNIB Judd Street, or turn right to join the taxi queue.
Continue to the doors in front of you. There are two sets of doors. The left-hand doors lead onto a curved ramp, whilst the right-hand ones lead down three steps onto Pancras Road.
Turn left and go through the doors via a level exit onto Midland Road. Turn left from here to RNIB Judd Street.
GO TO ENDContinue to Euston Road and locate the crossing. This is a two-stage crossing with tactile paving throughout. As you leave the pavement in either direction the post with push button and rotating cone is to your right. Note that, when crossing towards St Pancras Station, the post on your left as you leave the pavement is the control for the crossing of Judd Street, not Euston Road. On reaching the central island, turn right then left to locate the other half of the crossing. There's a post with push button and rotating cone to either side of you as you leave the island in either direction.
Cross Euston Road and continue, along the left-hand side of Judd Street, avoiding the steps from Camden Town Hall, which jut out from the left, to the first junction. This is a level junction with tactile paving at each side, cross this road and locate the next set of tactile paving which indicates the crossing of Judd Street.
This is a single-stage crossing with sounder and tactile paving at each end. The post with push button and rotating cone is to your right as you cross in either direction. Cross Judd Street and turn left.
Continue, to the next junction. This is a level junction with tactile paving at each side. Cross this junction. You've now reached the RNIB building, on your right. Continue, up the ramp and turn right through two sets of doors into the foyer. The reception desk is to your right (about 2 o'clock). Turn right, as you face the reception desk, for the Resource Centre.
