This station is effectively divided into two parts - that serving the Bakerloo/jubilee lines and that serving the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines. Each section has its own concourse, the two being joined by steps.
At street level, the entrances, except for the Marylebone Road South entrance, are quite close together, so we'll confine the combinations and permutations of directions to the most appropriate exits to the relevant section of the station. See the Environs page for details of the entrances and exits to this station.
We will therefore provide routes from the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines to the Marylebone Road South and Madame Tussauds exits, whilst routes from the Bakerloo and Jubilee lines will be confined to the Baker Street North and South exits. Note that the Marylebone Road South exit is only open between 07:00 and 19:00 Monday to Friday.
The Marylebone Road South exit is conveniently reached from the Circle or Hammersmith & City lines (platforms 5 - 6), whilst the Madame Tussauds exit is conveniently reached from the Metropolitan Line, via the Metropolitan Line concourse.
The doors open on your left as you face the front of the train. From westbound trains go towards the rear (towards the front of terminating trains) to locate the stairs to the Metropolitan Line concourse. Note that it is possible to go through onto platform 5 from this platform, we suggest you start from the second car from the front. Go up two flights of stairs into the concourse.
The manual gates are on the other side of the concourse, beside the stairs to platform 5, whilst the automatic exits are to your right.
Turn right, go through the gates in front of you, turn left, continue to the wall then turn left again. Follow this wall round to your right, past the cafe and go up a flight of stairs to the exit.
Continue to the downward steps in front of you then turn right and continue to the manual gate. Go through this gate and follow the left-hand side to the foot of the steps to your left. Go up one flight of steps to the exit.
Turn left, continue to the wall then turn right. Continue, down the eight steps on the opposite side of the concourse, then continue over the bridge to the gate line in front of you. The manual gate is to your right. Go through the gates, turn right and go up two flights of steps. Marylebone Road is to your right and Chiltern Street in front of you.
The doors open on your left (for platform 3, eastbound), or on your right (platform 4, trains terminating here).
Go towards the front of the train to locate the stairs to the Metropolitan Line concourse, go up two flights of stairs into the concourse.
The manual gates are on the other side of the concourse, beside the stairs to platform 5, whilst the automatic exits are to your right, beyond the steps to platforms 1 - 2.
Turn right, follow the wall past the stairs for platforms 1 - 2 to locate the exit gates. Go through the gates in front of you, turn left, continue to the wall then turn left again. Follow this wall round to your right, past the cafe and go up a flight of stairs to the exit.
Continue to the downward steps in front of you then turn right and continue to the manual gate. Go through this gate and follow the left-hand side to the foot of the steps to your left. Go up one flight of steps to the exit.
Continue, down the eight steps on the opposite side of the concourse, then continue over the bridge to the gate line in front of you. The manual gate is to your right. Go through the gates, turn right and go up two flights of steps. Marylebone Road is to your right and Chiltern Street in front of you.
The doors open on your left as you face the front of the train. Go to the front of the train, locate the exit and go up one flight of stairs to reach the east bridge.
Turn right (180 degrees and cross the bridge. The gates are in front of you with the manual gate to your right. Go through the gates, turn right and go up two flights of stairs. Marylebone Road is on your right, Chiltern Street is in front of you.
Continue, up eight steps into the Metropolitan Line concourse, there's a manual gate to your left, though the automatic exits are at the opposite side of the concourse, we suggest you go through the manual gate then follow the left-hand side of the concourse to the foot of the steps. Turn left here and go up one flight of steps to the exit.
The doors open on your left as you face the front of the train. Go towards the rear of the train and go up two flights of stairs onto the east bridge.
Turn left, continue over the bridge and up eight steps into the Metropolitan Line concourse, there's a manual gate to your left, beyond the steps from platform 5, though the automatic exits are at the opposite side of the concourse, we suggest you go through the manual gate then follow the left-hand side of the concourse to the foot of the steps. Turn left here and go up one flight of steps to the exit.
From the Jubilee Line (platform 7) the doors open on your right as you face the front of the train. Go to the front of the train, ideally turn right into the third gap from the end of the platform and turn right again towards the escalators.
From the Bakerloo Line (platform 8) the doors open on your left as you face the front of the train. Go toward the front of the train, ideally turn left into the last gap then turn left again towards the escalators.
Go up the escalator, the one on your right is normally the one you need, into the lower concourse. Follow the wall on your right till you reach the escalator to the Bakerloo Line concourse, again, the right-hand one is normally the one you need, go up into the Bakerloo Line concourse.
The gate line is in front of you with the manual gate at the left-hand end and the automatic exits to the right.
Move to the left-hand wall and continue forward, through the gate. The Baker Street South exit is in front of you.
For the Baker Street North exit, turn right, continue to the wall then turn right again and follow the left-hand side, which retreats in stages across the retail units, into the passage towards the Baker Street North exit.
Turn right at the top of the escalator and go through the gate in front of you.
For the Baker Street South exit, turn left then follow the right-hand wall, which juts out in stages across the retail units until you reach the exit.
For the Baker Street North exit, continue to the wall, turn right and follow this into the passage towards the exit.
From the Bakerloo (platform 9), the doors open on your right as you face the front of the train,the exit is opposite the third carriage from the front of the train. Enter the exit and follow the passage to the right, the escalator to the lower concourse is on your right.
From the northbound Jubilee (platform 10), the doors open on your left as you face the front of the train, the exit is approximately opposite the middle of the train; take the right hand passage of two which are adjacent at this point. Continue straight on to reach the escalator to the lower concourse in front of you.
The right-hand escalator is normally the one you need, go up to the lower concourse. Turn right and continue to locate the escalator to the Bakerloo Line concourse, again, the right-hand one is normally the one you need, go up into the Bakerloo Line concourse.
The gate line is in front of you with the manual gate at the left-hand end and the automatic exits to the right.
Move to the left-hand wall and continue forward, through the gate. The Baker Street South exit is in front of you.
For the Baker Street North exit, turn right, continue to the wall then turn right again and follow the left-hand side, which retreats in stages across the retail units, into the passage towards the Baker Street North exit.
Turn right at the top of the escalator and go through the gate in front of you.
